A Post About the THING That Bloggers and Others Hate Getting

Yes, it’s about that thing that if I mention it some [THING] filters will actually block this entry from being delivered. You know, the thing that is NOT “spiced ham” and NOT made by Hormel (which is a fine company with a fine product). I hesitate in saying its name, because many [THING] filters will block this entry thinking that it is. itself, [THING].

So, why this entry now? After all, [THING] has been around for decades and shows no sign of abating. Well, that is kind of the point, It seems that some of the [THING] filters in use are losing the battle to a sort of “fake contextual” attack. You know the ones. where a comment on your blog says, “This is the first time I frequented your web page to this point. I am amazed with the analysis you made to create this particular post. Great job!” The kicker, of course, is that the link to the poster is the “unsolicited commercial” pitch you were trying to avoid in the first place. courtesy of http://www.deepakarora.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/email-spam.jpgFor some reason, Akismet (the [THING] feature my blog uses, lets these through. I keep hoping it would “learn” the natural language and identify it as being, well unnatural via its off-topic nature. But I thought that would be too difficult. And then I saw this as a comment on this blog I had to hide. It appears one of the creative (used sarcastically) geniuses (used very sarcastically) posted the entire form letter these pieces of [THING] are based upon – without making the contextual word choices. Wouldn’t this be enough for a [THING] filter to consider the permutations and automatically block? It’s long, but here is what I mean (and I pray this will not help others create more [THING] (if you do, then you are a piece of [ANOTHER THING]:
