Pay No Attention to The App Behind the Curtain

Slowly, the veil is being lifted on the ‘Business Exchange’, the new project I am working on at BusinessWeek. We’re now almost in open beta and at this point have taken the product out from behind the firewall and have invited some industry types in to take a peek.

Welcome to the Business Exchange

Welcome to the Business Exchange

And so far, the reaction has been pretty positive. We’ve been written up in the New York Times (“Topic Pages to Be Hub of New BusinessWeek Site” free reg required), as well as this article in Wired.Com (“BusinessWeek Goes Geek, Nixes Silicon Valley for Inside Job“) a personal favorite of mine.

Keeping in mind that this is still in early beta, I’d love to hear your comments.

About Ron Casalotti
I am part of that lucky generation that started out when watching TV meant choosing from three networks, three independents and PBS. Now, I work in new (social) media for businesses and organizations - but these thoughts are my own.

Wow Ron! This is extraordinary. It’s like the ‘Digg’ of the business world! I was exploring the browse topics and found so many interesting items! Will there be a way to track where you were so you can get any updates on a specific topic as they are posted (such as an RSS feed?) Perhaps this is already there when you register (I explored as a non member) so apologies if it is.
Anywho — Damn Skippy I’m glad for you Mr. Director 🙂

    And I knew him when… 🙂

    Hi Berta!

Registered users, who also are logged in when browsing the content, generate both a My Activity page (private to you) and user Profile (set at public or private.) The Activity page tracks your main activities, such as adding articles, saving them for future use, comments made as well as your people network. Profiles show the same activity limited to the most recent ten items. There’s an RSS feed link on each profile that can be used to be alerted to additional activity by those users. So come on in, kick the tires and see how it works.
